The periodic inspection under the OIBT (the Swiss Low-Voltage Installations Ordinance) is not a sales pitch: the grid operator requests it, and you are free to choose the inspection body that carries it out. How it works.
A hotel, a nursing home or a restaurant falls under a five-year inspection cycle. Two exceptions worth knowing: a hotel with fewer than ten rooms and a restaurant with fewer than fifty seats stay on ten years. In every case, our inspections are carried out without a power cut and without stopping operations: room by room, service by service, at the times you set, usually over several half-days.
Many older buildings in Neuchâtel as in La Chaux-de-Fonds — and in installations whose wiring hasn't been redone for decades, we regularly find Schéma III (SH3) wiring: the whole installation then moves to an inspection every 5 years (ESTI directive no. 225). Workshops and offices fall under the 10-year cycle, homes under the 20-year cycle. After work outside homes, an acceptance inspection by an independent body is required within 6 months.
